Solihull and Southview

Well the week end Saturday 19th of Feb we travelled to Solihull for the Blue Chip Discovery qualifier - although the horses for this class haven't been out lately due to my bad hand so we put a few on board thinking if my hand was bad Carl could ride them all!! The day went well but unfortunatly the fences kept getting in the way!!! Zatina T did manage to get her final newcomers double clear and a 4th place and several others moved up a class. Breaker and Balia jumped their first newcomers and one had a look at the water tray and the other knocked it down but on the whole they jumped well. Barney and Anouk both had an unlucky fence down in what proved to be a difficult line of fences.

Then last wk end we had a trip out to Southview they were holding a Welcome to Yorkshire amateur qualifier. We popped Lord Castell and Applebee on board for a look around the 1.15 as it has been several weeks if not a month since their show both jumped around but neither to their usual high standard I think the flowers and the atmosphere were perhaps a little distracting!! Carl and Domino gained a 2nd place in this class but actually jumping this warm up took a little too much petrol out of the tank for the qualifier. In which she had the back rail of an oxer coming out of a treble. I rode Ulrich in this class and had the last fence off(jockey error)the course was very technical and a couple of distances caused problems for some- one unfortunate girl broke her leg when her horse failed to make the distance I think she fell on a pole and the horse fell on top of her we wish her a speedy recovery but it sounded very nasty. Ursula and Carl jumped a lovely clear in the first round but had the last two fences in the jump off a shame as their time was good enough but they would have knocked Norman Proffit and Patent out of a qualifing spot - and as the horse is owned by Marks mother and was previously jumped by his daughter Sarah this would have been sad as we know Norman has been campaigning this and the HOYS amateur qualifiers for some time!! So 'Good Luck' to them both in the final.

This week is turning into a busy one already I think we have the farrier, customers and a machine coming to level a site for some temporary stables tomorrow. Then Wednesday the stables should arrive and also Geoff Glazzard is here for the day to train us for the day and hopefully we'll be off to Olney Showground on Thursday.
