We after a good start to the week on Monday where all the horses behaved and we managed to get all the young horses out of their boxes and ridden ready for Carl to arrive on Tuesday to get some schooling done for the shows this week things then took a downhill turn.
First horse I rode on Tuesday jumped absolutly super then on the way up the drive a blackbird in the hedge spooked her and as she lept in the air and spun around she put a foot through the drive fence and was trapped, then as she panicked and thrashed about for what seemed like for ever I was thrown around like a rag doll until I came off and she broke free-luckily we were both ok but this was not to be for long!!!
Second horse down on the arena was jumping well but then came into a double landed slightly downhill and instead of sitting up to jump the second element she ran out I unfortunatly tried to jump it without her and failed resulting in a broken finger!!
So our plan for the week soon changed as on Wednesday morning my whole hand was swollen and other than hacking out riding was pretty impossible. So Thursday we did visit Onley as planned but with only half the horses Barney took a spare place so he could have a run around the newcomers with Carl. Ulrich came as planned but for Carl not myself and he had an unlucky four faults in the Blue Chip fox but Carl was impressed with the ride as he hasn't competed him for a while and thought the horse had improved. Then as the day seemed to drag on we put Domino and Ursula in the 1.20 instead of the 1.25 and they both jumped clear and Ursula was placed 2nd so all in all the horses had a good school for the show at Hartpury on Sunday.
